It all started here in 1969.

1970:- Just married and used to do a lot of SCUBA diving. Always lots of crayfish that Julie used to give away because she didn't like eating them, much preferred lamb chops ??????

1978:-Spent 5 years living and travelling on an Endurance 35' with our two boys (aged 6 & 5 when we left). Photo here in Tamar River, Launceston, Tasmania, where we happily got waylaid for a year on our way back from Queensland to Port Lincoln.

At this time we owned nothing but the boat and actually completely ran out of money. Interesting times but still survived well and had a fantastic life.

1988:- One of our favourite boats. This one was 19' long, weighed 3 tons and was built of solid jarrah planks. Slow but felt really good.

Got it as a wreck and spent a lot of time fixing and repairing to make it a classic little yacht.

1989:- If you look carefully at the construction of the bridge over ice cold rapids in the back blocks of Nepal you will understand why Julie has trepidation about crossing the river.

Our one good holiday for five years whilst in our first business.

1991:- The Harley Tour days. A brilliant way to have a great lifestyle and own some top bikes all at the same time. The crash the following year closed down the business.

1992:-Julie suffered for 7 weeks on the back of the Harley in a 7,000km  trip from Port Lincoln to Qld then back around the coast (As well as lots of other long /cold/wet/dry/uncomfortable trips.)

Almost cured her of bikes (2 changes of clothes only allowed)but she still gets on the back.

1992:- Our two Ultra Harleys in the early 90's. Wrote them both off in one crash. Out of action for 6 months and took a few years before the next bike. LESSON:- When you have two broken arms strangers will not talk to you when you are standing outside a public toilet.

1993:-The ultimate in travel luxury ? when we gave bikes and boats away and travelled in this camper for a while.

1994:- Sold up everthing and purchased a bigger yacht after the altercation with the Harleys. Planned to explore the Pacific, but a bit of a tumor in the head was removed along with the hearing in one ear and half my balance put paid to these plans. Lived and travelled locally on the 45' glass ketch for 5 years but didn't go far because of the balance problem.

1999:- Our work vehicle become the Winnebago as we travelled teaching farmers financial management all over SA, Vic & Tassy. Was a nice way to travel and see more of the country.

2000:- The first BM on the way to Alice Springs. A week of perfect weather and great camping made it one of those very memorable trips. Had to sell the BM to start another new business.

2002:- Camped on the banks of the Murray River on our way from Wentworth to the South Australian border. 200kms and 8 days of just magic canoeing in the cedar strip canoe we built. That area of the Murray is so remote and magnificent you should consider the paddle. Extended holidays like this are pure adventure, healthy and amazingly cheap.

2003:- Camping and sea kayaking on Kangaroo Island is a great way to have a holiday. Built the cedar sea kayak after getting caught out in some interesting water at sea in the Canadian canoe.

If you have never been to KI put it on your list of prioritities. Lots of free or very cheap camping, still remote and not many people.

2005.:-Owned a pre-loved R1100RT-P. This was an ex police bike and very entertaining to ride. I sometimes can't believe how dopey people react when they 'think'  there is a cop somewhere near them.

2007:- A 6 month trip around the USA on a Russian made Ural Motorbike. Left Australia in April 2007 and returned in October. Plans are to go back and complete the full circuit of the USA. Details of the trip are on this LINK .

2008:- Came back from the USA with a fun new business. Kettle Corn, big in the USA, Europe and Asia but hasn't hit Australia properly yet. We're going to make that our 'retirement' project.  For details of our new 'fun' business go to www.kettlecorn.com.au
